I'm Orlando, a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Developer Efficiency team at Intuit (before Credit Karma), where I work on platform architecture and roadmap. My job, at its core, is to make hundreds of other engineers faster and safer without them ever having to think about it.

Outside of my day job, I lead two Charlotte-based communities: the Charlotte Java User Group, which I've run for about 9–10 years and which has grown to over 1,100 members, and the Charlotte Tech Collective, a newer group I started because "Java User Group" was quietly keeping away the exact people I wanted in the room, engineers working across every stack, not just Java. I also speak at conferences on different topics. You'll find some of those talks on this site.

Outside of tech, I love to spend time playing retro and retro-styled video games, tinkering with my 3D printer, and most of my free time goes to my family and our two cats, Yuki and Marley.
